Qing Dynasty
In 1800's the famous Qing Dynasty, the one that rule China began to collapse, starting with the excessive western pressure in the China ports, but internal causes were also very significant for this collapse. The Manchus (Qing leader) decide to limit the western contact, so they close the merchant ports except Guangzhou, and limited the number of treaty's they may have. Great Britain was the main western power trading with China, and they didn't like the decisions taken by the Manchus.

About the first opium warOne reason that take the Manchus to close the ports was that British began to sell opium to Chinese people. This start because British merchants start to become empty of money, this was because the import more than they export. This made that they began to sell a drug planted in India to the Chinese so they can get more money. When Manchus decide to close the ports the first Opium war start. But the Chinese army was not a challenge for the British well armed and trained one. In 1842 the Qing dynasty signed a embarrassing peace agreement in which the open more ports, low the taxes to the foreign and didn't solve the opium problem.

Tai Ping Rebellion
A Chinese leader Hong Xiquan take advantage of the confusion generated by the opium war to join crowds of peasants to wipe out the Qing Dynasty in 1850. By 1864 after 14 years of conflict a Chinese army supported by British troops take bake most of the land conquered by Hong Xiquan an executed him, this rebellion caused 20 million dead's in China.
After the Rebellion the Qing Dynasty was at the bottom of the disaster, so the Manchus start a process of self-strengthening that accept western modernization but still using Confucian principles. |

Boxer Rebellion was an Anti-foreign movement of men that believe in physical strength can bet a whole European army without weapons. They began to destroy all European vestiges in China like the religion executing settlers and missionaries. A great alliance was needed to wipe out this troops accumulated in Beijing. British, Russians, French, Japanese, Indians, Belgians, Germans, & Americans send 20,000 to finish the rebellion, because all will obtain benefits from the Chinese stability.
